being happy is not always being perfect.brene brown writes ‘healthy striving is self-focused ... how can I improve? perfectionism is other-focused ... what will they think? to overcome perfectionism we need to be able to acknowledge our vulnerabilities and practice self-compassion. our truest gifts are courage, compassion and connection.’
I turn to her words often. they comfort me. teach me. console me. reassure me. remind me. ‘there’s a crack in everything. that’s how the light gets in.’
